Astor Place Cube

Vegan Demos with Veal Crate and Signs

In the 1990s, the VivaVegie Society was constantly active, going out spreading a message of compassion with the vegan model. Astor Place NYC was a great open space with a giant black cube—a sculpture—to mark the location. There was always a never-ending stream of pedestrian traffic we could reach out to. And, if the police happened by, they might ask us what we were up to. But they let us be as we were peacefully exercising our 1st Amendment right to assembly.
